Horse Welfare: The Horse Comes First
At Sunshine Coast Turf Club, the welfare of our horses is paramount. We are committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment that supports the health and well-being of every horse. Our facilities include cooling systems and shaded green spaces that help maintain a pleasant environment, particularly during warmer months. An onsite swimming dam provides opportunities for exercise and cooling, contributing to the overall care and fitness of the horses. We work closely with trainers, stable tenants, and industry experts to continuously enhance our welfare standards, which exceed industry requirements.
WASTE REDUCTION
We’re committed to minimising our environmental footprint by reducing single-use plastics and implementing advanced waste management practices. Through partnerships like ASPIRE and Containers for Change, we are actively repurposing materials and recycling to reduce landfill waste.
Local sourcing
Our catering showcases the Sunshine Coast’s rich agricultural heritage by featuring locally sourced ingredients. This supports local farmers and reduces food miles, offering guests fresh, sustainable cuisine that celebrates regional flavours.
TRANSPORTATION
In partnership with Tesla Transfers Noosa, we provide options for electric vehicle transfers, reducing emissions and promoting eco-friendly travel. Complimentary bus services on premium race days further support sustainable transportation options for our patrons.
WATER CONSERVATION
With a focus on water conservation, SCTC uses a 257 megalitre dam and harvested rainwater to irrigate our grounds, minimising reliance on mains water. We also recycle stable wastewater to irrigate our gardens, supporting a greener and more self-sufficient venue.
RENEWABLE ENERGY
Our solar panel installation is a step towards reducing our dependence on non-renewable energy. As we continue to explore renewable energy investments, we aim to further reduce SCTC’s carbon footprint.
PLASTIC CARD RECYCLING
Through our partnership with Creative Plastic Cards, SCTC recycles old membership cards via the TerraCycle® Zero Waste Box™, transforming them into materials like PVC piping. This effort supports a circular economy and minimises plastic waste.
LOOKING AHEAD
At SCTC, we are continually enhancing our sustainability practices. From LED lighting and biodiversity initiatives to employee engagement and sustainable procurement, we’re committed to driving positive change in all areas of our operations. We believe in creating a venue that is not only exceptional for events but also responsible towards the environment.
