JACK BRUCE
Background on the stable:
After working for Australia’s best for over seven years in Sydney, I decided it was time to launch my training career in the Sunshine State. Established just under three years ago in May 2022, Jack Bruce Racing aims to deliver a unique racing experience in Brisbane, with patience, integrity and professionalism at our core. From seven horses on Day 1, the stable has quickly grown to 60 horses in work spread across the Sunshine Coast Turf Club and Deagon (Brisbane Racing Club) training facilities. Our results speak for themselves, finishing 11th on the Brisbane Metropolitan Trainers Premiership last season and a total of 71 winners across South East Queensland. A notable milestone for the stable being the Listed Weetwood Handicap in 2022 won by Inglis Digital purchase, Axe – a stakes race synonymous with Queensland racing. I pride myself on placement, transparency and getting the best out of every horse I train. I look forward to continued growth for the stable in coming years.

Information on horses in stable
Some notable horses of the Jack Bruce Racing stable include:
- Atmosphere – an Inglis Digital success story, purchased for $135,000 from Godolphin and a winner of two Saturday races in his first racing preparation with our stable. He was placed in Listed and Group 3 races prior to us purchasing him; and only being a Class horse currently, he will work through the grades with our eyes set on higher targets in the future.
- More Trouble – a $40,000 yearling purchase from New Zealand before the stable even opened! A winner of over $150,000 in prizemoney including a $105,000 Metropolitan race at the Sunshine Coast, as well as the $125,000 Eagle Way at Doomben.
Horses to follow over the coming months include:
- Data Scramble – an impressive winner on debut in Wednesday class last prep, on a Winter Carnival path.
- Under Arrest – up and coming colt by Waikato Stud’s gun sire, Super Seth. He heads to the races for the first time as a late 3yo and looks promising.
- Earn To Burn – a two-time trial winner in early 2025 saw him gain a spot in the $250,000 pre-Christmas Magic Millions Debut at the Gold Coast for an unlucky 4th. Subsequently ran 3rd in the Gold Nugget. Back for the Winter Carnival and has serious ability.
Prospective ownership opportunities:
The stable are always welcoming new owners! Whether you own a horse outright or are looking for a 5% share, Jack Bruce Racing is constantly looking to grow and invite new owners into the stable. We purchase at a number of select yearling sales throughout the year for young, up and coming horses – the future of our success; as well as tried horses via Inglis Digital or private purchases for something with some form behind them to race without the wait. There is also always room for new horses so we welcome any ownership groups looking to transfer their horse from interstate or have a sea change. Simply reach out to jack@jackbruceracing.com.au, let me know what you’re after and we can go from there.

SHAUN DWYER
Shaun Dwyer began training racehorses in his hometown of Mackay, North Queensland.
Having had good success in North Queensland his desire to learn eventually led to Sydney and a 6 month stint as yard foreman for Gai Waterhouse and was followed by 2 1/2 years as Stable Foreman for the legendary Bart Cummings at Leilani Lodge.
In 2003 Regimental Gal won the 2YO Magic MIllions race, Shaun became “Queensland Trainer of the Year” and also received the Recognition Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Profile of Queensland Racing’.
In 2004 Shaun had his first (and hopefully not last) Melbourne Cup runner “Pacific Dancer” who was third favourite and came through impressive wins in the Grafton Cup 2,400m and the Geelong Cup 2,400m. Regimental Gal’s two Group 1 winning performances in the Autumn of that year inspired Shaun’s move to Victoria in 2009.
In Victoria Shaun trained Villa Verde and Miss Leonidis both Group winning fillies.
Since returning to Queensland in 2021 notable horses have been Last Chance winning the $150000.00 Gold Jewel Qlty Hcp 3yo&Up and more recently up and coming youngsters Anemacore, Shadow Cruiser, Ready to Ignite, La Cometa and Vesper Lynd.
With only 14 horses in work Shaun is very hands on in the stable with only one full time and 2 part time employee’s. Shaun himself is at the stables every morning at 1.30 am.
